NOTES
The soup can is probably one of Andy Warhol's best known images. They were part of an exhibition of works based on images of commercial products that he made in 1962, where they were juxtaposed with a stack of actual Campbell's soup cans, conflating reality and representation; art and commerce. Andy Warhol created works that were meant to be accessible to a broad audience. To accomplish this, he used mechanical and commercial production methods, such as silkscreen printing.
