NOTES
In Barehanded War No. 4 artist John Rozelle references the haunting effects of apartheid and colonialism in South Africa. The image shows two black South African protestors dragging the broken body of a wounded comrade. Gold is sprinkled throughout the white-on-white image to symbolize an earlier policy of political and economic injustice and racial segregation driven by money and power.
