NOTES
With its fine net of crackle, the superb celadon color of this jar is in the native Chinese monochrome tradition. Foreign tastes, however, are evident in its meandering floral decoration, trumpet mouth, and grand scale. The robust Persian and Islamic design, adapted to Chinese style and then thickly covered in green, are barely contained by the glaze.
