NOTES
This helmet was quite possibly part of a large set of armor made for service on both foot and horseback. The etched bands are filled with strapwork as found on European decorative arts of the time, and compartments contain scenes of horsemen and animals. The brow bears the coat of arms of its original owner, yet without the presence of colors (known in heraldry as tinctures) it is impossible to identify the family.
